A key characteristic of Iranian-Persian dance is the expressive hand movements. Engaging the hands and fingers while dancing expands the dancer’s choreographic expression.
During this workshop, dancers will learn 3 elemental hand movements from Iranian dance vocabulary within the context of Iranian classical music and dance, and then explore them through Contemporary dance improvisation, using various genres of Western music. Dancers are encouraged to bring a favorite song for improvisation.
