Open Year Round

Vista Del Rey - "View of the King" in Spanish - was the name chosen by Dave King for the eight-acre dry-farmed Zinfandel vineyard he purchased in 1994. Situated on a hillside just northwest of Paso Robles, the vines are over 30 years old as Vista Del Rey prepares for its 15th vintage. King calls this original planting the Hacienda (Home) vineyard, while newer block planted in 1996-97 provides the source for Barbera.

Celebrating our 15th anniversary in 2011, Vista Del Rey is a small, hands-on, "mom & pop" winery, specializing in hospitality and offering a selection of gourmet food items and wine accessories. Older vintages of the Kings' wines are often available. And friends of wildlife will find plenty of interest here too. (Ask Carol about the bats!) Upon arriving at VDRV, you will probably be greeted by our extremely friendly dogs, Daisy and Shylo, who will escort you to our humble, rustic facility. Inside, besides tasting our current releases, be sure to take in well-chosen products including homegrown dry-farmed walnuts and pistachios, gourmet condiments, private label chocolate goodies and jellies, and carefully selected local wine country items. Be sure to ask Carol about her bird nest collection. Finally, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy our small picnic area and it's panoramic view.
