This place is fun for my son who is 5, but is definitely geared towards babies. There's certain things for older kids that my son enjoys, and I see older kids checking out. Staff try to rotate and bring new stuff out, it just doesn't compare with other city's discovery museums, especially for the membership price. We come here during the school year/rainy season. They desperately need to fundraise more to afford some expansion. They are doing good with what they have though. The grocery area is a hot spot and the water play areas. We also enjoy the puppets and anything musical.

This is a great place to take kids. Every activity provides an opportunity for children to explore and engage their brains and their bodies. The activities are hands on and easy to learn how to do. There is an awesome pretend play area with a grocery store area and a kitchen area. There is a book nook, easy access to family restrooms, and friendly staff. I would say Redwood Discovery Museum is geared toward kids younger than 10, but teens and adults can also enjoy trying out many of the activities. This is an ideal place to hang out on rainy and cold days when you can't take tge kids to the park. The museum often hosts free play groups, which is a great way to try it out for free. But the play group is very popular, so the museum can get crowded. It is well worth the cost of admission (or a membership) to visit when there isn't crowd. A tip for those who are easily over-stimulated by noise: take ear plugs, especially if you are going during a time when there are lots of other visitors.
