"Skov", meaning "Forest" in Danish, was created to tie the various family attributes of Annette’s Danish background and their long time wine making home in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Annette and David Hunt came upon the wine business more by chance than anything premeditated. When they married in 1994, their love of wine brought them to the Napa and Sonoma Valley’s for their honeymoon. With David’s enjoyment of wine that began as a child, Annette’s love for people and the spark from a newspaper article written by June Smith, the Hunt’s dove into the wine business.

With the purchase of an existing winery, vineyard and full winemaking facility in 2003 the Hunt’s continued with the legacy of style and grace was left behind by Bob Roudon and Jim Smith. But it wasn’t until the end of 2010 that they decided that it was time to begin their own legacy. On 1 January 2011, Skov Winery was born, bringing with it fantastic Santa Cruz Mountain Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Zinfandel.

Their overall production is about 1,000 cases per year which also includes a fabulous Sauvignon Blanc and an exciting Zinfandel port.
