About  Us:

Open to the public since 1996, the Skirball Cultural Center has established itself as one of the world's most dynamic Jewish cultural institutions and among the leading cultural venues in Los Angeles. Its mission is to explore the connections between 4,000 years of Jewish heritage and the vitality of American democratic ideals. It seeks to welcome and inspire people of every ethnic and cultural identity in American life. Guided by our respective memories and experiences, together we aim to build a society in which all of us can feel at home.

The Skirball Cultural Center achieves its mission through educational programs that explore the literary, visual, and performing arts from around the world; through the display and interpretation of its permanent collections and changing exhibitions; through an interactive family destination inspired by the Noah’s Ark story; and through outreach to the community. More than 600,000 people visit the Skirball each year, including 80,000 children and teachers from public, private, and parochial schools.

Amazing and well-managed. Definitely recommend Noah's Ark for kids. Very well thought out. Interactive learning environment that is challenging but safe. i like that it's easy to let kids run free and explore but still keep an eye on them. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends.

Visited the Skirball CC for the temporary Jim Henson exhibition - and what an exhibition it is! A true masterpiece with wonderful features (including many original puppets), video excerpts from many of Henson's works, and insights into the behind the scenes of the creative process and bringing to life of the Muppets. Staff are friendly, and the many volunteer guides are always there to point you in the right direction if you're a little lost. The signage in the centre isn't the greatest, and particularly on a Thursday (when general admission is FREE), the museum can get very busy and chaotic. Best to turn up particularly early on a Thursday to beat the rush and enjoy the exhibits at your own pace. Aside from the Henson exhibition, the Skirball also hosts a permanent exhibition on Jews in the US, their cultural impact, the hardships of settling in the US, and the like. A very informative and interesting collection. Well worth a look.

Several interesting exhibits and the Noah's ark was fun for my toddler. Gotta get there early for tickets though. We went on Thursday when it was free and arrived just before opening. We still barely got tickets though. Don't know if it is easier on other days though. Overall, a great time.

Great place to bring a family, reasonable pricing, lots to see! My family came her primarily for the Jim Henson exhibit and we weren't disappointed! Huge amount of interesting info, props, movie clips in a very open and comfortable space. The Leonard Bernstein exhibit was also stellar! We were a bit surprised by the Noah's Ark exhibit, which we assumed would be family friendly. It was pretty much age-7-and-younger friendly. I had expected it to be along the lines of the Exploratorium / Children Museum type places with things interesting for adults and children alike but nah. Probably my fault for the assumption, though. Free parking, free admission, and (according to my folks) pretty decent food make this place a solid 4.5 star attraction, rounding up to 5 stars :)

Great place! My family and I went to see the Jim Henson Exhibit and were blown away. The parking is free and for LA that is really awesome. The Skirball Center is really put together beautifully and the people who work there are really nice. I grew up obsessed with Jim Henson and his work and this experience was so satisfying that I walked through it a twice!
