Welcome to Dos Desperados Brewery, we're glad you stopped by! We are a small family owned business, located in San Marcos, California, with a passion for craft beer and having fun! On any given day of the week when you come into our tasting room you will find one of our Munson family members proud and excited to serve you, and our story is a happy one!
It all began more than 20 years ago when Steve Munson, "Desperado Dos" - co-owner and head brewer, got the brewing bug. Steve's first batch was a delicious Mexican style ale and everyone loved it! "Desperado Una", a.k.a. Dora, did not however appreciate the aromas during the process that were emanating from the coat closet where Steve would ferment his beer - moving outside of the home came soon after.
To this day many people ask, "How did you come up with the name of your brewery"? The truth is, we spent many weekends in the backyard with friends drinking Steve's various creations and we all started naming his beer. You know how it is - the more we drank the more creative we got. Soon we noticed a theme and after getting serious, the decision was made to take this beer thing from a hobby to a business. We decided to name our brewery Dos Desperados, representing "the Rebel in all of us," along with Selma Hayek and Antonio Banderas in the movie Desperado.
