Byington Vineyard And Winery

21850 Bear Creek Road

Open: Year Round

Byington Vineyard & Winery was established by Bill Byington and his wife, Mary, with a vintage 1987 release. He purchased 95 mountainous acres surrounded by redwood forests with a view to the Monterey Bay as a family retreat in 1958. In the early 1970s, a well-known Santa Cruz Mountains winemaker approached the family, wanting to lease a portion of their land for vineyards. A keen wine collector, Bill was intrigued, and the seed for future vineyard cultivation was planted.

Outstanding 'Value Added' Tasting Room Experience. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful views and a very talented guitarist with a beautiful voice playing a terrific song list..picnicked with a bottle of wine and good friends...perfect afternoon!

It's a great place to have a picnic: they have a few picnic tables overlooking the Santa Cruz Mountains and even a bocce court. A musician was playing poetic country music just outside the enterance. I wasn't very happy with the wines though, but they were quite affordable and I think many would find what they like there.

Unbelievable views! A beautiful three mile hiking trail filled with Mountain Maple, Oak and Redwood Trees, barbecue areas on the lawn or among the vineyards and it is literally fifteen minutes from our Campbell home. My wife and I have a golden retriever and we found the perfect place in Byington as it's the only local winery that we know which allows for us to bring our dog into the tasting room, sit with us on the lawn as we picnic and listen to live Jazz music and play fetch with our dog within the vineyards.
