Open Year Round

Since 1840, generations of agricultural pioneers have worked the 250-acre parcel of land that is now home to our estate vineyards. First known as the Sweet Water Springs Ranch (a stage coach stop), and later as Walters Ranch (hops plantation), the property was turned over to viticulturists eager to grow European wine grapes in the Russian River Valley, and became the Hop Kiln Winery in 1975.

For nearly thirty years, Hop Kiln Winery produced a variety of award winning and crowd-pleasing wines, attracting many loyal fans and followers. These included acclaimed propriety blends Big Red and Thousand Flowers.

In 2004, Hop Kiln Winery was purchased by Westside Grapes LLC, under the direction of David Di Loreto. From the beginning, Westside Grapes has been committed to honoring the property's unique and colorful past, while developing its full potential to grow and produce wine at the highest level of quality and craftsmanship; An effort that included replanting old vineyards and planting new vineyards with the varietals most appropriate for the Russian River Valley's unique soil types and microclimates.

The vineyard work began in late 2004. Today the HKG Estate Vineyards comprise more than 100 acres of ultra-premium vineyards made up of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.
