Art can be exciting or disturbing— but it can also be a path to quiet and inwardness. It can open our eyes to the hidden beauties of nature; it can lead us to slow down and look at the small wonders that are all around us.
Lucy’s art is contemplative. In a turbulent world, it offers an invitation to the calm and healing that deep communion with nature brings.
Artist Talk and Demonstration
Sunday June 11, 3 - 4 pm
On June 11, Lucy will give a talk about the origins of her art and a demonstration of her painting methods using gouache and watercolor. Gouache is similar to watercolor but more opaque, so the technique is quite different.
She will show how she uses the opaque quality of gouache in various ways, and demonstrate how this allows her to create texture, depth, and a sense of mystery in her paintings.
The slow, many-layered, meditative process of creating her detailed paintings invites viewers to a deeper appreciation of the wonders of the natural world.
